High Schooler Hits Full-Court Buzzer Beater for the Win

A full-court buzzer beater? Yes please.

The hero of this video is Austin Packers junior Oman Oman. He was waiting patiently under the rim, hoping that his Northfield Raiders opponent at the line missed a free throw. Northfield held a two-point lead at the time and there were 1.6 seconds left in the game. The Raider did miss the free throw and the ball bounced around on the rim before falling to Oman, who turned around and fired the ball the entire length of the court. He hit nothing but net.

If Oman was jazzed, he played it pretty close to vest, telling the Austin Daily Herald:

"It was just a reaction. I just got the ball, and I threw it up. Luckily it went in. It kind of surprised me," Oman said. "I was happy and everyone was charging at me. It was good feeling."

You can get a sense for how long a shot this was by the difference in time between when Oman tossed it, when the buzzer sounds, and when the ball goes in. It seems to go on forever, but his only real play was to toss it when he did. Austin won the game 57-56 and everyone in the building lost their minds.

Here's another view, from what sounds like the opposing side of the court.
