Top-20 Mississippi State Football Signee Seen Punching Woman in Video, Issues Apology

The five-star recruit is seen pummeling a woman on the ground.

Top-20 recruit and Mississippi State signee Jeffery Simmons was caught on tape battering a woman on the ground, and issued an apology for his actions yesterday, according to Columbus, Mississippi station WCBI. The 6-foot-2, 235-pound 20-year-old defensive lineman is seen pummeling a woman, allegedly "Sophia Taylor" (not confirmed), with both fists as another woman punches and kicks her as well.

Simmons took to Facebook to issue the apology:

Simmons claims to have lost his temper after remarks were made about his deceased nephews. In another angle, Simmons appears to be breaking up the fight before he resorts to punching the woman:

According to WCBI, "Law enforcement is aware of the incident but so far Macon Police have not responded to calls for comment on the incident or have said if any criminal action will be taken."
