Errant Golf Ball 'Coincidentally' Causes Horse to Throw Jockey

And who kicked up the golf ball, you might ask? Why, it was Big Lachie, the eventual winner of the race.

We think it was a golf ball that got in the way at @SandownPark in the 1.45pm? pic.twitter.com/hZFSpkCUKi

I'm not calling JFK-level conspiracy here, but this golf ball certainly didn't ricochet itself off a racehorse barreling down the track. Or did it?

At the British Stallion Studs EBF Maiden Stakes, a horse named Luxford (as if this story couldn't get any more British) threw his jockey in the final stretch in a way that was just a little too curious. The replay revealed that somehow a golf ball came into play on the track, was kicked up, ricocheted off the head of another jockey, and crossed the path of Luxford. Luxford spooked and threw his jockey, Kieren Fox, to the ground. Fox fortunately managed to avoid the heavy hooves above and emerged unscathed.

And who kicked up the golf ball, you might ask? Why, it was Big Lachie—the eventual winner of the race. Just take a glance at the smug look on Big Lachie's face. Maybe there was a second shooter?
