Sometimes, man… sometimes this whole sports thing can hit you right in the tear ducts. Typically competition is high, the adrenaline perhaps even more so, and you're mostly hell-bent on destroying the opposing team.But in the case of Mounds View high school pitcher Ty Koehn, winning was only the second-most important thing on his mind. As he stared down Jack Kocon, his childhood friend who plays for top-seeded Totino-Grace high school, he must have played out the only two outcomes for the game: him or me. The winner would go to the Minnesota state championship, the loser, uh, would go on to be the loser. The video below picks up with two strikes in the count, here's what transpired:

Koehn just dodged all of his teammates, likely ready to lift him up on their shoulders, to console his buddy. Here's more on just how close these two guys are, from Bring Me The News:
"We are very close friends," Koehn told BMTN. "I knew him from all the way back when we were 13. We were on the same little league team. It was tough when we went to separate schools but we kept in touch."
"I knew the game was going to keep going or it was going to end right there," Koehn added. "I knew I had to say something. Our friendship is more important than just the silly outcome of a game. I had to make sure he knew that before we celebrated."
