Panama National Team Player Amílcar Henríquez Shot And Killed Outside of His House

Panama's president Juan Carlos Varela spoke out against Henriquez's murder on Twitter.

Panamanian international soccer player Amílcar Henríquez stepped outside of his house in Colon, Panama when a gunman fired multiple bullets into him on Saturday, according to the Associated Press. He was later taken to a nearby hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Two other people were wounded in the incident.

Panama's president Juan Carlos Varela spoke out against Henríquez's murder on Twitter, promising to mobilize security forces to hunt down the responsible parties.

Henríquez, 33, played for many clubs across Central and South America, but most notably returned several times to his home country's Arabe Unido. Henríquez recently played in World Cup Qualifiers, including last month's match against the U.S.
