Sportscaster Dale Hansen Sounds off on Gun Debate Hypocrisy after Florida Shooting

The Dallas-based newscaster said, "since it's almost always a white kid, there's nothing we can do," while dripping with sarcasm.

In the wake of the horrific shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Florida, where 19-year-old gunman Nikolas Cruz took 17 lives on Wednesday, the nation has once again tried to reconcile how seemingly inconceivable violence can come so easily, and so often.

So Dallas-based sportscaster Dale Hansen—who has been woke on live TV before—wanted to take a break from his typical sports coverage to say his piece:

"Everybody sends their thoughts and prayers again, because that works so well," Hansen starts, with his tongue planted firmly in cheek. He then goes on to rattle off the horrifying (albeit complicated) statistics on school shootings this year alone.

He continues his incredulous tone:

"But there's just nothing we can do. If it was a Muslim or a Mexican doing the shooting, how many new laws and how much money would we spend then to stop the madness? But since it's almost always a white kid, there's just nothing we can do.

"We're worried about people coming to our country. They should be worried about us going to theirs."

He goes on to list several other bleak statistics about how the pro-gun U.S. looks in relation to the rest of the world. Then he finishes by saying:

"Last time I said, 'we need to find a way to stop a nut with a gun'—and that's all I said—I get an email saying, 'I'm saving my last bullet to put it right between your eyes.' Just another responsible gun owner in America, and I'm taking all bets he's a white guy. So there's just nothing we can do."

Never stick to just sports, Dale.
