Marseille's Patrice Evra Judo-Kicks Rowdy Fan in the Head

He didn't yell "I love this game!" after doing it, but you could imagine that he did.

Patrice Evra—perhaps best known for his delightful catchphrase, "I love this game!"—wasn't in love with one fan before last night's game, and so he kicked him. Kicked him straight in the noggin.

It appeared as if the fan was an ultra who decided to scale the barriers along with several other fans and mix words with Marseille players. The weird part, though, is that those ultras appeared to be fans of Marseille—Evra's team—who were visiting the Portuguese side Vitória SC during their Europa League match, according to the Associated Press.

"The club can only condemn all destructive behavior from pseudo supporters who insult their own players when everyone should be supporting the team," Marseille said.

You can make out the kick around the two-second mark, just left of center:

(And you can catch a close-up here.)

Hard to know exactly what sparked the incident, but Evra was sent off with a red card before the match even started, giving him the auspicious 0' booking. The AP says that Evra should be expecting his punishment from UEFA next week, but it will be at least a one-game ban. Meanwhile, that ultra likely has an icepack, and is reconsidering his allegiances.
