Johnny Manziel Blames Browns for Not Knowing He Was Bad at His Job

"If Cleveland did any of their homework, they would have known I wasn't a guy who came in every day and watch film." Good, good. Yes, yes.

Johnny Manziel recently found himself back in the spotlight after he showed up at University of San Diego's pro day, where NFL scouts randomly got a chance to see what he's been up to since bouncing out of the league. Since then, he has hit a patch of deep introspection about his time with the Cleveland Browns. And it's… well, it's pretty fucking honest. At least partly.

The former Texas A&M, Heisman-winning quarterback was hailed as the second coming of Football before Cleveland drafted him, and then he promptly flamed out. He went through a few meltdowns—including serious allegations of domestic violence—and eventually chalked up his failures in Cleveland to his relationship with alcohol and depression.

Those are serious issues—there's no denying that. But here's a new theory he's cooked up today on the Dan Patrick Show:

OK, so Johnny Manziel is saying shame on the Cleveland Browns for not doing their homework… on him not doing his homework? Good, good, yes, yes. Definitely the thing you want to do when you are a much-maligned quarterback looking to get back into the NFL is start sandbagging organizations in that league. And, we've got to be fair here, recent history notwithstanding: the Cleveland Browns are technically an NFL organization.

But wait—Johnny had a response to all of the naysayers. He wasn't passing the buck at all:

In order to get the full gist of this tweet, it's best to read it backwards: "I have nobody to blame but myself," then "It's all about the right fit and mine in Cleveland wasn't right." OK, got it. But wait: "Draft a QB in the first round and put him into a toxic Quarterback room vs. what it was like my second year with [Josh] McCown. COMPLETELY DIFFERENT situation."

You know what? Scratch that. Just read nothing but the sentence, "I have nobody to blame but myself."
