"Holy Shit!": American Pharoah Wins Triple Crown

American Pharoah won the 147th running of the Belmont Stakes and became the first horse to win the Triple Crown since Affirmed in 1978.

American Pharaoh won the 147th running of the Belmont Stakes and with it, the Triple Crown. He actually did it. The last horse to win the Triple Crown was Affirmed in 1978 and, leading the race wire to wire, American Pharoah ended the streak at 37 years. It was a close race for most of the one-and-a-half mile run, but American Pharoah pulled away at the end and won by five-and-a-half lengths, running it in 2:26.65, which is only 2 seconds behind Secretariat's record-breaking run.

So, what did Victor Espinoza, the oldest jockey to win the Triple Crown, have to say for himself after the race? "Holy shit."

Indeed, Victor!
