This Larry Nance, Jr. Dunk Should Not Even be Possible

Come for the death by monster dunk, stay for the slackjawed reactions.

Larry Nance, Jr. has got hops, but what he showed off against Brook Lopez in Brooklyn last night could more accurately be described as "motherfucking bounds, holy shit." I am not even really sure how this happened. There is a point where, based on prior experience of watching incredibly fit, exceptionally talented individuals play basketball, you could have reasonably expected Nance to descend back to Earth and likely regret his decision to try something so absurd. It was at precisely this moment that Lopez got that sick feeling in the pit of his stomach as he realized that not only was Nance not coming back down to Earth, he was going even higher.

The dunk* was so vicious that even the Nets bench reacted out of pure instinct. They were the first witnesses—and there will be millions more who will watch online—to their teammate being absolutely annihilated by Larry Nance, Jr., and so they almost hopped out of their seats. Then they remembered what they were watching and quickly composed themselves.

Even better than the reaction off the Nets bench, however, is Timofey Mozgov's reaction. He had perhaps the best seat in the house for this dunk and it very clearly blew his mind so far and wide all he could do was scream and grab his own head. Ditto Metta World Peace.

You know things are bad when you get roasted so thoroughly that people are doing the Surrender Cobra on your behalf.

The Nets beat the Lakers 107-97.

*If I see so much as one Dunk Truther talking about how this is not really a dunk, I swear to God…
