Hiding out in Japan, the South Korean fighter has ignored multiple summonses from the state and could well face some prison time if he does not appear in front of the prosecutors’ office.

Hong Man Choi is in hot water with the Korean authorities for his unpaid debt.

The seven foot two South Korean monster, nicknamed the "Techno Goliath" for his post-win dance moves, has had the Seoul Eastern District Prosecutors' Office issue an arrest warrant against him after failing to adhere to multiple demands he hand himself in for questioning.

The issue dates back to December 2013, where Hong Man Choi is accused of borrowing 710,000 HKD (roughly $92,000) from a friend to help buy him and his girlfriend watches before refusing to acknowledge having received any money.

After failing to pay back his debt before the deadline set by his lending acquaintances, the Techno Goliath had lawsuits filed against him which he has since roundly ignored. A representative from the prosecutors' office said: "If he is in Korea, we will consider the situation and decide whether or not to enforce the warrant. But, if he continues to refuse to appear at the prosecution office, it is likely that the warrant will be enforced." Stern words.

Hong Man Choi - who has fought the likes of Fedor Emelianenko, Mirko Cro Cop and Jose Canseco (yes, really) in his MMA career and big names in the kickboxing world such as Badr Hari, Remy Bonjasky, Jerome Le Banner and Semmy Schilt – made his return to MMA earlier this year after six years out following a David vs (Techno) Goliath loss to Ikuhisa Minowa via heelhook.

His return to MMA action in July saw him suffer a first round KO to unknown 43-year-old Brazilian Carlos Toyota under the Road FC promotional banner – the organisation he is now contracted to fight for.

This saw him retreat to Japan according to Road FC promoter Jung Moon Hong, who said "When Hong Man Choi lost his comeback match, he received severe emotional shock. He confined himself in Japan and hardly contacted anyone." This isolation is what irked the Korean establishment further as they could not get in contact with the big man himself.

The not-so-gentle giant has been in trouble with the law before, having been arrested for assaulting a woman after she refused to pay the bill at the pub he owns back in 2011.

Hong Man Choi is slated to compete at Road FC's Christmas event in Shanghai, China. However, it is unclear whether his legal wranglings will prevent the man mountain from taking part altogether.
