LaVar Ball has been in the news a lot as of late, mainly for his world-historical achievements in the field of Being A Shit-Talking Sports Dad. Charitably, one could say he is looking out for his sons Lonzo, LiAngelo, and LaMelo's best interests, but that doesn't account for LaVar's claim that in his prime, he would "kill Michael Jordan one-on-one." (Ball did average 2.2 points per game at Washington St. in 1987-88, so anything is possible, right KG?)Whether there is a method to LaVar's mouthy madness remains to be seen, but letting the world at-large know your every chess move, means the world at-large knows your every chess move. Last night, Pops was sitting courtside at the CIF State Southern California Regional Open Division semifinals watching his sons' Chino Hills team take on Bishop Montgomery. It was played at the sold-out El Camino College, which is in Torrance. That is, roughly 50 miles from Chino Hills.

Enterprising burglars took note, and hit up the Ball home during the game. TMZ Sports has the details:"…Neighbors heard a suspicious crash sound at the Ball home around 8 PM and immediately called police.We're told cops raced to the scene and when they got there, they saw a pile of Ball family belongings in the center of the home … as if they'd been rounded up.Our law enforcement sources tell us the operating theory is that due to the quick response of neighbors and cops, the bad guys didn't get the chance to make off with the goods before police arrived … so they left the loot and bolted."Fortunately, nobody was hurt. And it sounds like the Balls didn't lose any of their stuff. Even if they had, though, it would all be easy enough to replace once that billion-dollar shoe deal kicks in.
