Reds GM Trolls Beat Writers' Facebook Live Session

Members of the Reds front office and coaching staff start off the year by trolling the media. (All in good fun.)

Cincinnati Reds pitchers and catchers reported to spring training in Arizona yesterday, meaning Cincinnati Enquirer reporters Zach Buchanan and C. Trent Rosencrans also reported for duty. Video being all the rage these days, the two held a question and answer session with fans using Facebook live. At about the 15 minute mark of the video above, however, you can see they had an unusual group of viewers descend on their shooting location (which appears to be a parking lot): third base coach Jim Riggleman, pitching coach Mack Jenkins, special assistant to the general manager, former Pirates GM Cam Bonifay, and the general manager himself, Dick Williams.

Jenkins actually dropped by a few minutes earlier on his way into the building, and made a brief onscreen appearance around the 8:40 mark of the video. He then likely tipped off the rest of the staff, prompting Williams to use his personal Facebook account to comment on their video, saying "Hi guys, we are having meetings in the conference room and there are some annoying guys that look like panhandlers that are camped right outside our front door - any idea who they are?"

Neither Buchanan nor Rosencrans initially believed it was actually Williams trolling their comments, but then he walked outside. Thinking on their feet, the two scribes then told fans to hit up the GM on his page and suggest all sorts of improvements to the team, including, but not limited to, trade suggestions.

They then continued their video for a few more minutes, and at one point discussed their projected wins for the season. Hopefully Williams was gone for that part; they both guessed somewhere in the 70-73 wins range.
