Why Tinder Skate Spots is My Favourite Instagram Account

The Tinder Skate Spots Instagram account takes you back to a simpler time, when a perfectly-sized ledge is far more interesting than the pretty girl sat on it.

The internet can be pretty great at times. I mean, yeah, there's also a lot of shit. Like, metaphorical tons of it. But every so often you can come across something that takes you back to a happier time, a time where your biggest worry is that it looks like it could rain so you might not be able to squeeze in two hours of skateboarding after school. And though an Instagram account which involves Tinder is hardly the most obvious thing for someone in their mid-20s to get nostalgic about, Tinder Skate Spots completely nails it for me.

When I was in my early teens skateboarding was literally the only thing I cared about. I didn't care about school, I didn't care about getting wasted, and I didn't care about girls. All I wanted to do was go to my town's tiny skatepark and push around until my parents demanded I go home for dinner; then I'd watch skateboarding videos until I fell asleep. That's what I love so much about this Instagram: it makes me look back at when I was far more interested in the perfectly-sized waxed-up ledge than the pretty girl sat on it.

There's only been a handful of posts so far (20 at the time of writing), but I love the thought of bored teenagers swiping lazily through Tinder, only occasionally stopping to go "Oh man, look at how perfect those banks are."

Or "Hey, that's the UCI Hubba that Kirchart did a Front Blunt down."

Or "Holy shit, that's Love Park!"

It's the little things in life, right? You can follow the account here for more nostalgia-tinged Tinder-skating crossovers.
