Dude Misses Half-Court Shot so Badly He Deserves the $1 Million out of Sheer Embarrassment

A man had a chance to win $1 million with a half court shot. He did not do well. He did not do well at all.

In theory, a half-court shot for $1 million is a can't-lose situation. No one really expects you to make it—that's why they're offering a million bucks—so it's no big deal if you miss. And if you make it, well, you get $1 million. On March 13, 2015 at about 10:40 PM, we learned that is simply not true. It's still virtually impossible, but this poor dude at halftime between Duke and Notre Dame at the ACC Tournament proves beyond a shadow of a doubt that there is a can-lose outcome.

You'll notice that at no point in this Vine do we see the rim, or any part of the hoop. The crowd sigh is particularly depressing. There are a few scattered boos, but for the most part this sounds like a crowd going "aw jeez, guy" and shaking its collective head. Then, it got worse.

No doubt. Ugly RT @YahooForde @martinrickman @ryanfagan Made all the worse by the airball free throw and badly missed layup that followed.

Aw jeez, guy.
