Mike Moustakas Goes Yard in 11th, Royals Take Game 1

The Royals keep winning in extra innings. This time it was a Mike Moustakas home run in the 11th.

The Royals have done it again. Two nights after besting the Oakland A's in 12 innings, they beat the Angels 3-2 in 11 innings to take Game 1 of the ALDS . The game was tied at 2-2 since the fifth and Mike Moustakas finally ended that tie six innings later with a bomb to right field. It was his first home run since August 25th.

While all the bunting in the Oakland game was a little outrageous, it is fair to say that the Royals are no power team—they hit the fewest home runs in all of baseball—but shit happens in playoff baseball, and even more shit happens in extra innings in playoff baseball. Moustakas made it happen on a 1-1 changeup from Fernando Salas and then recorded the final out of the game a half-inning later. The Royals now have a 1-0 lead and can take a 2-0 lead back to Kansas City with a win tomorrow night later today.
