J.R. Smith's Twitter Feed After Brutal Loss: "Cavs in 7"

The tweet was promptly deleted and J.R. said someone hacked his account, but "I like the way he's thinking."

The Cleveland Cavaliers lost Game 3 of the Finals to the Golden State Warriors in absolutely brutal fashion Wednesday night. With just over three minutes left to play in the game, J.R. Smith hit a three-point shot to give the Cavs a 113-107 lead—and then everything went to shit.

While the Cavs went through a scoreless stretch reminiscent of a particular head-shaking Miami Heat performance, the Warriors went on an 11-0 run highlighted by a dagger Kevin Durant three in transition. It gave them the lead with 45 seconds to go, and that was that.

Moments after the brutal loss, this appeared on J.R.'s Twitter account:

J.R.'s optimism is admirable, but according to him, it's actually not his optimism. The tweet was perhaps not-so-quickly deleted, as it amassed 37K retweets by the time this screenshot was taken, but it was deleted. And according to theScore's Joseph Casciaro, J.R. said he was hacked.

"I didn't put it out. Somebody hacked my account," Smith told theScore as he walked through the bowels of Quicken Loans Arena. "But I like the way he's thinking. Sounds good to me."

He also told Cleveland.com, "I did not tweet that…I'm smarter than that."

I'm not sure who's hacking J.R.'s account to tweet some wishful thinking—wishful thinking he is on board with—but he is a mercurial soul, so we'll give him the benefit of the doubt. And, as theScore pointed out, NBA rules prohibit players from using social media post-game until their locker rooms have been opened to the media; the timing of this tweet would be very close to breaking that rule.

Whatever is going on here, we are all Team J.R. on this one. Cavs in 7. At the very least so we can see J.R. walk around Cleveland for a couple weeks with no shirt on.
