Robinson Cano Drilled in Head With Angels Warm-Up Ball Between Innings

Rabinson Cano was hit right in the forehead with a wayward warm-up ball from Angels rookie shortstop Taylor Featherston.

Robinson Cano had to leave last night's game against the Angels with dizziness after he was hit in the head between the sixth and seventh innings with a wayward Angels warm-up up ball. Cano was sitting near the end of the dugout down the first base line when Angels rookie shortstop Taylor Featherston's throw went flying into the Mariners dugout and hit him right in the forehead. Albert Pujols at first base had a perfect view of the whole thing as the bail sailed over, and threw down his glove in disgust after watching it make contact.

Cano said he didn't hear or see anything, he was just talking to a teammate and then all of a sudden got hit in the head. He was taken out of the game and evaluated for a concussion, but no signs of one were found at that time.

"It was scary," Mariners starter J.A. Happ said. "I kind of saw it happen, and it sounded pretty gross. I saw the throw coming high, but I didn't have time to really react or say anything.

Despite pain in the enormous knot on his head, Cano said last night that he has no other issues and will play today. Mariners manager Lloyd McClendon was similarly optimistic. Hopefully nothing changed overnight.
