Juventus' Carlos Blanco Finds Net with Wonder Strike from Just Shy of Half-Field

The ball floated on an immaculate trajectory to tuck itself just under the crossbar. Glorious.

Not all half-field goals are created equal. In nearly all cases, the goalie's out of position, and so it's just a wide-open 192-square-foot target at the end of the field (not that that's a cake walk, though). And while, yes, such was the case for Juventus' Carlos Blanco today, he didn't have to place the ball this sweetly.

In Juventus' match against Melbourne in the International Champions Cup—a tournament not dissimilar to A Tribe Called Quest's "Award Tour," in which the best European teams do a series of friendlies in U.S., Canada, and now China and, like today's game, Australia—Carlos Blanco found himself around half field after the Melbourne keeper strayed off his line for a goal kick. So, being the intrepid, bold baller that he is, Blanco positioned himself, and let it rip, floating the ball on an immaculate trajectory across the field, and tucking it just under the crossbar. What a touch.
