Bask in the Righteousness of The LeBron Selfie-Oop

He lofted the ball toward the heavens—only to join it moments later, striking it down to earth.
@NBATV

Remember the past two years, when the narrative between these two teams was about the greatest team in the world vs. the greatest player in the world? Before the chorus of people's babied-ass foot stamping about unfairness and league parity took over the narrative? Well, it appears that—after a game that sought out the upper limits of the word "spectacular"—we've found ourselves in a place where we can reclaim that narrative. Because good goddamn, can LeBron ball.

Just gaze upon the splendor of a man who can be described as nothing less than "Basketball Incarnate," as he finger rolls toward the heavens, only to take flight once again to slay the rim off of his own assist:

Call me sacrilegious if you may, but the first image that comes to mind is Raphael's near-perfect painting of "St. Michael Vanquishing Satan." The light, the gold, the grace, the ease. It truly was righteous. (Just, you know, don't think of Kevin Durant as Satan here—despite his demonization, he's actually just a really nice guy.)

LeBron's was an athletic feat that should hang in cathedrals. That shit so pretty.

But yes, while James' night—with an outrageous 31 point, 10 rebound, and 11 assist triple-double—was indicative of his synonymousness with basketball, there were a couple of other Cavs torching the Warriors last night as well.

Let us not forget the sacrosanct Kyrie Irving with 40 points, and the celestial Kevin Love with 23 of his own—both of whom contributed handily to the NBA Finals record-breaking 86 points in a half and 24 three pointers made in a game.

They should commission a triptych.
