He hit it, at least.

Move over, Mookie Wilson: Tim Tebow just authored the most momentous dribbler in the history of the New York Mets. The baseball prospect/former QB/sometimes commentator/last true hope to save America from moral decay notched his first walk-off as a professional on Monday night, driving in Tyler Wade with a two-out, bottom-of-the-ninth single to cap a 4-3 comeback win for his Scottsdale Scorpions over the Mesa Solar Sox in exciting Arizona Fall League action.

The game-winning hit wasn't exactly a rocket, but 1) they all look like line drives in the box score and 2) last time I checked the goal is to hit 'em where they ain't. Tebow was robbed of a hit in the eighth when a line drive destined for center field struck the pitcher and settled in front of the mound for an easy put-out. He finished the night 1-for-4 with a walk.

Thus spoke Tebow:

"I actually felt really good the entire day. Had a lot of good work this morning and then this afternoon after I got here. First at-bat I saw it really well, second at-bat felt like I saw it really well but just swung at a stupid pitch on a 3-2 count…and then felt like I put a good swings on it my next two at-bats as well."

Tebow now has four hits in his last five games, raising his average to .146 in 41 at bats. His OPS remains an almost unfathomably low .376. But he's a winner, so let's not count him out. Or, anyway, let's hope he at least has some fun out there.
