Last night, a bunch of scallywags snuck up on Chicago Bears wide receiver Kevin White's white Maserati and lifted it, according to Chicago police, per ESPN's Jeff Dickerson. White's girlfriend was in the car at the time of the incident, but was not injured.The thieves apparently executed a classic bump-and-run—that is, tapping the car with their own ride, and then stealing the car while its driver examines it for damage. The incident took place in Chicago's West Town neighborhood last night at 6pm.The incident was one of what appears to be a rash of bump-and-run jackings. While you could go for the whole "athletes have too much money anyway" reaction to the news, it seems like the car has some sentimental value, as White purchased it not too shortly after getting drafted in 2015. It may have been his first sweet taste of that actually-paid athlete life.Lucky for White, though—and unlike most common carjackings—word of the theft is out, and it's hard to look inconspicuous in a Maserati. The thieves might yet get their just desserts.
