Yet another construction worker has died while working on the Qatar 2022 World Cup, according to The Guardian, UK. The worker—a 40-year-old British man whose name has not yet been released—died while assembling the 2022 World Cup's flagship Khalifa International Stadium in Doha, and an investigation is underway as to the cause of death.

Thursday's Qatar World Cup-related death is the second stadium-related death in three months, and adds to a death toll that in 2015 was reported to have reached upwards of 1,200. While that figure includes deaths that occurred on construction projects not strictly related to the World Cup—such as hotels, subways, an airport, and sewage systems—the International Trades Union Confederation considers many of those projects part of the broader infrastructure boost necessary to get Doha prepared to host the World Cup.

In the wake of Thursday's incident, Dr Rosena Allin-Khan MP of the British Labor Party, spoke out against the many abuses of Qatar's World Cup:

My thoughts go out to the friends and family of the person who tragically died working on a construction site in Qatar. It is unacceptable that basic health and safety precautions are not being followed. Fifa and the Qatari authorities should not be putting profit before safety. Fifa president Gianni Infantino needs to show where his priorities lie, launch an urgent investigation and ensure everything is done to protect workers.
