Swimmer Bro Jimmy Feigen Pays Off Pissing, Fake Robbery Incident with $11,000

When you're a rich, white, male gold medalist raised in a massive cocoon of privilege and entitlement, all it takes is a few wads of your earnings to stem the bleeding of your misdeeds.

Fallout continues to hit the three other swimmers involved in the international Olympic incident known as Lochtegate.

Jimmy Feigen is one of three U.S. swimmers who were detained in Brazil following a chain of events kicked off by 12-time Olympic medalist Ryan Lochte telling his mother that he and his teammates had been robbed on August 14th. However, security footage from the Olympic village and the gas station that was supposedly the scene of the crime cast doubts on Lochte's story—reports now suggest that the group vandalized and pissed all over the gas station after going clubbing, and were detained by security guards until they paid for the damage. Earlier this week, a Brazilian judge ordered the four men's passports to be seized. Lochte had already left the country, but Bentz, Conger, and Feigen were not so lucky.

The BBC reported today that Feigen has come to an agreement with Brazilian authorities that includes a $11,000 donation to a non-specified charity or institute.

"After a long deliberation, this agreement was reached… [Feigen] will donate 35,000 reais ($10,800) to an institute, and with that the case is resolved," Breno Melaragno, Feigen's lawyer, said. "After this donation is done, his passport will be given back to him, and he will be free to return home."

Meanwhile, the U.S. Olympic Committee has also tried to clean up the Olympic swimmers' mess by issuing a blanket apology.

"The behavior of these athletes is not acceptable, nor does it represent the values of Team USA or the conduct of the vast majority of its members," a USOC statement said.

According to the USOC, Bentz and Conger's passports have been released and the swimmers have left Rio.
