Update 4:15 pm: Sheriff Chris Nocco just confirmed at a press conference that Roy Halladay was killed in the crash this afternoon. He was 40 years old.

A little after noon EST, authorities on the Gulf Coast of Florida received reports that a small plane crashed into the water. Reports are that the plane belonged to former Toronto Blue Jays and Philadelphia Phillies ace Roy Halladay.

While the tags do appear to match, police have not identified who was killed in the crash, who was flying the plane, or who else was may have been on the flight. The Pasco Sheriff's Office will hold a press conference at 4:30 pm to discuss the crash.

After being traded to Philadelphia in 2010, Halladay threw the 20th perfect game in Major League Baseball history and went on to throw only the second postseason no-hitter ever that same season.
