Undefeated boxing legend Floyd Mayweather has finally agreed to what will surely be the most watched combat sports event in history. Announcing the event on Instagram today, Mayweather will take his 50th professional bout against the UFC's biggest star, Conor McGregor, at the MGM Grand Arena in Las Vegas.

At first glance, it might seem like a terribly mismatched fight—how could an MMA fighter compete in a different sport against one of the greatest of all time? But a fight is a fight and the Irish star has proven lucky whenever he's been given a "puncher's chance." Besides, instead of spending the years it would take become a top-level boxer, McGregor and his team will train specifically for Mayweather, looking for unique opportunities to land a knockout punch over the course of a long 12-round fight.

We wrote extensively on the ins-and-outs of a what was then just another idea on the end of a Conor McGregor shit-talking rant, and everyone scoffed, but it always made complete sense for those involved, so hey, we told you so. Floyd Mayweather is already the big favorite according to the Vegas odds, so there are really only two questions you should be asking yourself now: who will you bet on, and will Donald Trump be ringside?
