Last week, news broke that Cristiano Ronaldo, the plucked, heroic, charitable, tanned, coiffed, quick, constantly-preening physical specimen who also plays soccer, plunked down a few million dollars on a pad in Manhattan. That the apartment is in Trump Tower, one of presidential candidate Donald Trump's properties, gave the story a bit of a bump in sports-celebrity news circles. But it didn't have much depth, much staying power—at least, not at first.Over the weekend, The New York Post did a little digging, and boy did they hit pay dirt! The new apartment is allegedly the same one "that '50 Shades' novel author E.L. James used as a model for the notorious, bondage bachelor pad of her fictional sex sadist character, Christian Grey, a source said."Why the Post needs to give a source anonymity for this little tidbit is a question I can't answer. (Although, if I had to guess, I'd say Ronaldo is the source.) Why Cristiano Ronaldo would buy the very apartment that inspired the kinkiest novel to come out in a while, on the other hand, is a question I'm not sure we need to answer. But the story isn't all kink and sex.
