ESPN is premiering a 30 for 30 documentary from Judd Apatow, called Doc & Darryl tonight, and it covers the careers of Doc Gooden and Darryl Strawberry as they went from phenoms to burned out Woulda Beens for the Mets after some hard living off the field. Strawberry appeared on Mad Dog Radio earlier in the day to discuss his career, and some of the things he did on and off the field. Naturally, the focus is on the, um, sexy stuff.Some of the things he discusses are pretty routine, or at least it were at the time, like smoking cigarettes in the dugouts and drinking beers in the clubhouse. Some of it, though, is unlike anything we've heard since the Golden Age of Baseball, when The Mick was getter hummers under the Yankee Stadium bleachers.The host asks about things Doc and Darryl did together and they have smoked and drank together, but they have not gone to church or attended a meeting (AA, I am assuming), although Darryl says he would be down for either scenario. Transitioning from there… it sure sounds like that, at some point, Doc and Darryl shared a menage a trois with a woman.Then, at the very end of the interview, Darryl admits that he had sex with women in the clubhouse during games he was playing, usually between innings. "It worked out well, how crazy it was." It sounds like it was a pretty sophisticated operation they were running, as Darryl added "You organize it, point her out, tell the [clubhouse attendant]."
