Jets defenceman Dustin Byfuglien had a priceless reaction after accidentally spitting on (what appears to be) an ice crew member during Winnipeg's 5-4 win over Minnesota on Sunday. After realizing that his errant wad of saliva landed on a human rather than its intended destination (the ice), a rink-side camera caught Byfuglien giving the classic, "Oh shit, I hope no one saw that" face.Byfuglien and his teammates certainly had a better night than said spit-victim, as the Jets recovered from a blown 4-0 lead to hand Minnesota its fifth straight loss and seventh in its last eight games. This isn't the first time an innocent bystander has been the unintentional victim of a hurling ball of saliva from an NHL bench. Last March, Maple Leafs goaltender Jonathan Bernier pegged an ice crew shoveler with a flying chunk of spit, prompting an even stronger reaction than Byfuglien's.
Officials already receive it, but it's probably time to start giving these ice crew members some hazard pay, too.[TSN]
