Kyrie Irving: "The Earth Is Flat"

"Can you really think of us rotating around the sun and all planets aligned rotating in specific dates being perpendicular with what's going on with these planets and stuff like this?"

Richard Jefferson and Channing Frye have a podcast through NBA.com and their most recent guest was teammate Kyrie Irving. Kyrie Irving is a sharpshooting point guard with a penchant for hitting big shots who is also 100 percent wackadoo. Irving appeared on the show and about 15 minutes in began to drop nonsensical truth bombs about the Earth and what "they" want you to believe. Who's they? Doesn't matter! It only matters that they're trying to get you.

The discussion begins about aliens, and Kyrie believes they exist. Which is reasonable; why should we be the only ones in the universe, right? Kyrie then transitions to home. He asks Jefferson if he believes the Earth is round. Jefferson says yes. Kyrie asks again, this time incredulous, "You believe the Earth is round?" And we are off to the crazy pants races.

"This is not a conspiracy…no, the Earth is flat. I'm just saying that all these things that particular groups that they almost offer up this education. The fact that in our lifetime that there are so many holes and so many pockets in our history—by the way there is just history. History is history and it's happened long before us and it's gonna happen after us. And it always repeats itself somehow. All these things that they keep giving us…these things that used to put me in fear, it makes you not want to question it naturally because of how much information you actually can figure out and how much information is actually out there. It's crazy."

Before we go any further: uh…what?

OK, moving on.

_"Anything that you have a particular question on—OK, is the Earth flat or round? I think you need to do some research on it…it's right in front of our faces. They lie to us. They lie to our faces…If you really think about it from a landscape from the way we travel, from the way we move, _can you really think of us rotating around the sun and all planets aligned rotating in specific dates being perpendicular with what's going on with these planets and stuff like this?"__

At this point, Richard Jefferson interrupts to ask Kyrie Irving, "How you gonna put planets in quotes?" because presumably Irving used air quotes when saying planets. It is a good question.

"I'm gonna put planets because everything that they send or they wanna say that they're sending, it doesn't come back. There is no concrete information except the information that they're giving us. They're particularly putting you in the direction of what to believe and what not to believe. The truth is right there, you just gotta go searching for it. I've been searching for it for a while."

I recognize all of those words as words in the English language but when arranged in this way I…I just don't know. All I ask from Kyris is this: just don't go around telling people that the Warriors didn't blow a 3-1 lead.
