Josh Donaldson is back destroying baseballs again after an injury-plagued start to his 2017 season.

The slugging third baseman absolutely crushed one to the upper deck in left field on Tuesday, sending his third home run of the season into the 500 level of the Rogers Centre. It was only the 20th time in 29 seasons that a ball has hit the upper deck of the stadium, and Donaldson became just the ninth different Blue Jay to launch one that far into oblivion.

Jose Canseco was the first player to pound one into the 500 section of the former SkyDome in the 1989 postseason, and did it twice more in his career including once as a member of the Blue Jays. Josh Phelps (2002, 2004) and Edwin Encarnacion (2013, 2015) are the only other Jays players to accomplish the feat twice. Alex Dickerson of the Padres was the last player before Donaldson to light up the 500 section of the Rogers Centre, when he parked one up top last July.

Other Blue Jays who have made acquaintances with the upper tank include Joe Carter, Carlos Delgado, Shawn Green, Raul Mondesi, and Vernon Wells.

With that show of muscle and power, the 2015 American League MVP may slowly be rounding back into form after missing six weeks of game action with a lingering calf injury. Since his return on May 26 during a series vs. the Rangers, Donaldson has recorded four hits including a double and homer, and is slashing .268/.375/.488 in 41 at-bats this season.

Donaldson's return to lineup and form comes at a time when the Blue Jay seem to be finding their old slugging ways again while many key components to the roster return from the DL. Troy Tulowitzki, the Blue Jays' other star on the left side of the infield, recently returned after a month off and blasted a grand slam two nights ago as a part of a massive 17-2 Toronto win. The team also pounded four more home runs, including Donaldson's moonshot, in Tuesday's 6-4 win over the Reds.

The Jays have won seven of their last eight games, putting a franchise-worst start behind them, and are starting to bring the rain again.
