NHL's Wes McCauley Proves Yet Again That Ref Mic Mishaps Are Delightful

The legendary zebra had technical issues with his microphone as he tried to announce the results of a save that was under review, and we loved it.

NHL referee Wes McCauley is a damn national treasure.

One of the league's top zebras is known as much for how well he calls a game as his dramatic and exuberant calls into the microphone on goals, penalties, and FIGHTING!

McCauley had a little technical malfunction as he tried to announce the results of a save that was under review in a tilt between the Flyers and Islanders on Wednesday night, with his old trusty companion, the mic, giving him some issues as he tried to relay the call to the crowd. What ensued was not only hilarious, it was classic Wes. After messing around with his volume control, McCauley was clearly startled as he heard his own voice project through the arena's speakers.

"The mic's not working! Oh, there it is!"

In case you needed anymore clarification, the decision was NO GOAL!

McCauley may be the GOAT when it comes to his overall résumé of passionate goal and penalty calls, but the famous "You can't do that" remark hurled out by Mike Leggo in 2013 will likely never be dethroned.
