The Washington Capitals caught all of the feels last night, and understandably so. After 43 seasons—and not to mention the 13 seasons with the exceptional Alexander Ovechkin—the Caps finally hoisted their first Stanley Cup.The victory came after the Caps had a harrowing third period, pulling off a comeback from a 3-2 deficit against the Las Vegas Knights in Game 5 of the Stanley Cup Final, winning it 4-3.But in a night filled with unbridled emotion, the climax came from a very sweet interview with Caps forward T.J. Oshie:Oshie started out talking about how winning the Cup—and he genuinely made sure to mention that he's talking about outside of his wedding day and his two daughters being born—was the most amazing feeling he's ever had. Then, when the reporter asked him about his father, that's when the real waterworks kicked in."You're going to make me cry really, now," Oshie says with his voice cracking amidst tears. "My dad's here in the crowd. He has… he was diagnosed with Alzheimers and he doesn't remember a lot of stuff, but you bet your ass he's going to remember this one."My god, it's misty up here. Oshie wipes his tears away with his towel, before going on to talk about the game and team dynamics. But Oshie's dedication to his father is the kind of thing that helps melt away all the pads and gloves and helmets to help you recognize that there are some very real human beings under there.
