Football has become a political gridiron. This much has become fact in our current political climate. So it's only natural that the Super Bowl would become a venue for bold statements. But leave it to a representative of the NBA to come with a legit one.

Minnesota Timberwolves center Karl-Anthony Towns is on hand for Super Bowl LII in Minneapolis, and he decided to rep a jersey that carried a message—namely that Meek Mill shouldn't be in prison. Meek Mill, a rapper, has become emblematic of an unjust parole system that too easily drags previously convicted criminals back into prisons.

In November, Meek was sentenced to two-to-four years as punishment for actions that a judge believed were in violation of his parole. The violations, the judge asserted, were an altercation at an airport, and then Meek Instagramming himself while "recklessly" driving a dirt bike during filming of a music video.

Though Towns is from New Jersey, and he reps Minnesota for his NBA team, he is clearly showing his support of the city of Philadelphia, and one of its most famous rappers:

Towns isn't the only NBA player to show love for Meek. Philadelphia 76ers owner Michael Rubin and center Joel Embiid visited Meek Mill in prison in December.

But Towns came prepared today: now that's how you use a customized jersey.
