Jerry Jones Not into "Circumcising the Mosquito," Which is OK by Us

The Cowboys will be without Tony Romo for a couple of months, but don't even THINK about circumcising that mosquito.

The Dallas Cowboys organization is still trying to overcome the shock of losing quarterback Tony Romo to a broken back. The expected recovery time is anywhere between six and 10 weeks. For that reason, many general managers would be tempted to place him on short-term injured reserve, which would allow the team to use his roster spot on another player for six weeks.

Cowboys owner Jerry Jones, however, is not among those executives. He is, instead, very much against the idea of placing Romo on IR as he explained Tuesday in an interview with 105.3 The Fan. And his reasoning somehow can be analogized to removing a mosquito's foreskin:

"You don't have to spend a lot of time going over and kind of circumcising the mosquito," he said. "You don't have to do that over there on him because you look back over on the other side that caused you to make the decision, and there's nobody good enough to take that spot to give you a chance for that if he can come back."

Jones' argument doesn't make a whole lot of sense given that the Cowboys could use the empty roster spot on any position, and not just a backup QB, which would give them the flexibility to…actually hold up a second: circumcising the mosquito? Never heard that one. Is it meant to represent micromanagerial overkill? An analogy for a waste of time? Or is a mosquito dick just a mosquito dick to Jerry Jones?

The expression does exist outside of Jerryworld, though. Three years ago South African journalist Mzilikazi wa Afrika very publicly accused Communications Minister Dina Pule of trying to circumcise a mosquito while covering a corruption scandal. Perhaps Jerry Jones is simply a regular follower of South African politics.

Also would it even be possible to circumcise a mosquito, biologically speaking? Like most insects, males mosquitos have external genitalia which they use to inject their sperm into a female, which then stores it in her spermatheca. But mosquito foreskin? I seriously doubt that even exists, Mr. Jones.

Anyway that is why Dallas will essentially throw away a roster spot for the next six weeks. It's because Jerry Jones doesn't want to spend time going over and circumcising a mosquito. Good luck with that.
