Old Dude Put a Beer in Fridge 32 Years Ago and Wouldn't Open It Until Cubs Won World Series

He couldn't drink it, though, because it smelled like death.

While the Cubbies were spraying champagne and light beer all over themselves and the Cleveland Indians' visiting locker room, this old dude reached for a can of [Sam Elliot voice] Coors that he had stuck in his fridge 32 years ago. As the narrator of this video informs us, the old man has had this beer since 1984—when Chicago lost to the San Diego Padres in the NLCS in five games—and vowed neverto drink it until the Cubs won the World Series.

Now, in the year of our lord 2016, after 108 years of futility, the Chicago Cubs are World Series champions and it's time to shotgun that damn beer, old dude! Problem is, the beer was so old—it even had one of those old-school pull tabs—it smelled like death. And appeared to no longer be carbonated. The face the old guy makes when he takes a whiff is brief, but unmistakably one of disgust.

It's a shame: you save a beer that long, for that specific purpose, you almost have to drink it. It's alright, though. It's a whole new world for Cubs fans today and they would never allow themselves to believe in something like the curse of the undrunk celebratory beer from 1984.
