Rapper Meek Mill has recently received an outpouring of support for what many claim is an unjust prison sentence. And now Joel Embiid and 76ers owner Michael Rubin have paid a visit to the Chester, Pennsylvania prison he was recently moved to, according to TMZ Sports.

Meek, a Philadelphia native, has been a 76ers fan for a while, and the two "really lifted Meek's spirits," according to TMZ's unnamed Sixers source.

Meek has become a representative victim of an unjust parole system that often traps convicted individuals into perpetually serving time. In 2008, Meek was arrested on gun and drug charges and was given a five-year parole period after serving eight months in prison. Since that period, he was deemed to have violated his probation several times, and had his probation period extended. The majority of those violations, however, were travel-related—unreported trips, etc.

Earlier this month, Meek was sentenced to two-to-four years for two parole violations—one for an altercation at an airport and another for reckless driving when he Instagrammed video of himself doing tricks on a dirt bike on city streets for a music video. Both resulted in arrests, but the cases were dropped. The judge, however, ruled that the arrests themselves were substantial enough to sentence him for upwards of four years.

Embiid isn't the only athlete to speak to Meek during his imprisonment. Colin Kaepernick recently tweeted after speaking with Meek on the phone,

Rubin, who developed a friendship with Meek over the years, had also written a letter speaking to Meek's character, and then later testified during Meek's trial.
