Jim Dolan to Disgruntled Knicks Fan: "Start Rooting for the Nets"

Knicks owner James Dolan told a fan who emailed him to go root for the Nets, because the Knicks don't need him. He also called him an alcoholic.

James Dolan is a disaster. The New York Knicks, his hapless, punching-bag of a basketball team, is a franchise created in his own image. As of this morning, the Knicks are the very worst team in the NBA with a 10-41 record. Only the Bucks are close, at 10-40. ESPN has treated the team as ratings kryptonite, opting to televise winning programming such as celebrity bowling tournaments instead of showing whatever embarrassment may be going on in Madison Square Garden. So when one fan writes to the owner expressing his frustration, how does Dolan respond? Go root for the Nets, you alcoholic.

The father of former Wall Street trader and filmmaker Aaron Bierman contacted Dolan to tell him why he thinks he's ruining the franchise, and said he should sell the team so fans can at least have hope again. It's certainly not a friendly email, but it's not nasty or aggressive, either. Deadspin has the full email from the father, so you can check it there.

Here is Dolan's response. He speculates that the fan is an alcoholic who makes everyone miserable and tells him the Knicks don't want his fandom.

The biggest takeaway from this is not that Dolan is an even larger horse's ass than we originally thought, but that he has apparently been stone sober while navigating the Knicks directly into the ground.
