Liverpool Fans Walk Out at the 77th Minute to Protest Raised Ticket Prices

Immediately after, Liverpool conceded two goals—coincidence?

They said they'd do it, and so they have. Liverpool fans staged a walkout during today's match against Sunderland, in protest of the team raising ticket prices in the Main Stand from £56 to £77. The minute they chose to walk out? Why the 77th, of course.

Many were skeptical about how many fans were actually going to pull the trigger—who would sacrifice nearly a seventh of a match that you already paid good money for, in order to get more match for your money? The power of their irony was on their side, however, as Liverpool was up 2-0 and the crowds at Anfield thinned to the point of balding. And their voices were boisterous.

And, as if to prove the point of their worth, Liverpool almost immediately conceded two goals to Sunderland, evening the game out in a tie. How much are Liverpool fans worth, then? At least two points.
