Ersan Ilyasova Takes out His Own Teammate with One of the Best-Worst Flops Ever

He owes Jerryd Bayless a steak dinner.

Flopping—the sensation most synonymous with soccer is increasingly infiltrating the NBA. Humongous men around the league are hitting the ground at historically high rates in hopes of getting a foul call, when all they're really getting is a little less dignity.

In Wednesday night's game between Philadelphia and Memphis, 76ers forward Ersan Ilyasova attempted to fool the refs and force a foul call on the Grizzlies' Zach Randolph when he left his feet and dove backwards as if he were jumping off the 10 meter springboard for a diving competition. Instead of jumping into water, though, Ilyasova found himself flying into teammate Jerryd Bayless, who fell to the ground and stayed there after taking the brunt of Ilyasova's elbow to the face.

Unfortunately for real basketball fans who have been complaining about the game's softening nature, Randolph actually was handed a foul on the play after a video review said he pushed Ilyasova, ignoring the Oscar-worthy flop completely.

There is no doubting the infiltration of flopping in the NBA, and Ilyasova demonstrated it perfectly on Wednesday night with quite possibly the flop of the year. After all, if that's all it takes to make a 6'10", 235-pound man hit the ground and injure his teammate in the process, maybe I could hold my own in the NBA.

We've seen some other good flops this season, too. Let's send it over to Dwyane Wade…
