Royals Tie Game in Eighth on Crazy Hopping Ball

The Astros looked like they had Game 4 in the bag. Then a bouncing ball ruined everything.

The Astros pummeled their way to a 6-2 lead in the seventh inning, thanks to back-to-back home runs from Carlos Correa and Breaking Bad extra Colby Rasmus. Things were looking so great for the 'Stros. They looked to be moving on to the ALCS quite handily. The wheels fell off the wagon almost immediately, however, as the Royals rattled off hit after hit after hit in the eighth inning.

The Royals hit three straight singles to lead off the inning, loading the bases for Lorenzo Cain who also singled to make it 6-3. Then Eric Hosmer followed with a single of his own to make it 6-4. Which brought up Kendrys Morales, who also put the ball in play for what very easily could have been a double play ball, but instead turned into a full-on Houston disaster. Pitcher Tony Sipp got a glove on it, but just a piece of the glove, so it went bouncing back to short off the mound. Correa was there waiting for it, still thinking double play, until it took a crazy hop juuuust over his glove. Two runs scored to tie the game at 6-6. Two runs, on two crazy hops. It's an amazing swing in fortune.

Alex Gordon then grounded out to Jose Altuve, who made a great play just to get to it, scoring Hosmer and making it 7-6 Royals before the Astros finally record the final out.
