Archie Bradley Drilled in Face on Line Drive

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Archie Bradley left the game early after he took a line drive to the face. His face has since doubled in size.

Arizona Diamondbacks pitcher Archie Bradley left after just an inning and a third last night against the Rockies when he was struck in the face on a line drive off Carlos Gonzalez's bat. It was a 2-0 pitch and Gonzalez smoked it up the middle, right into the right side of Bradley's face. He immediately went down to the ground and remained there for a good three minutes or so while trainers looked at him. He never lost consciousness and eventually got up and walked off the mound under his own power.

As he walked off you could already see some significant swelling develop, but according to trainer Ken Crenshaw after the game, he was otherwise OK. He underwent extensive testing and showed no signs of concussion or fracture. The team is going to run a few more tests after the swelling goes down to make sure nothing is lurking underneath. How much could the swelling hide?

Pretty ugly huh? In all Seriousness tho thanks for the text, tweets and prayers! Could have been a lot worse! #lucky pic.twitter.com/NasQBYWqkz

Gah, a lot possibly! It looks rough, but if that's the worst of it, Bradley is indeed lucky.
