49ers Get 80-Yard Touchdown At End Of First Half

Brandon Lloyd blew by Janoris Jenkins to give the 49ers a quick and unexpected touchdown at the end of the first half and San Francisco took the lead to start the second half.

The St. Louis Rams jumped out to an early 14-0 lead and outplayed the 49ers for most of the first half, yet somehow found themselves trailing 17-4 five minutes into the second half.

Austin Davis looked to be living up to the Drew Brees comparisons, while the Niners fumbled, punted, and scuffled around early. San Francisco finally got on the board with a field goal in the second quarter after a botched punt gave them the ball on the Rams 43 yard line; it was their best field position of the game. Although they only mustered 7 yards on the drive, Phil Dawson was true from 54 yards to make it 14-3. Then, the St. Louis defense had a brain fart.

San Francisco started with the ball on their own five-yard line after the two minute warning. A couple plays to Carlos Hyde and Anquan Boldin got them to their own twenty-yard line with 20 seconds left in the half. Then, on third-and-six, Janoris Jenkins bit on a double move and Brandon Lloyd torched him. There was no safety help so Lloyd sprinted 80 yards to the end zone to put the Niners right back in a game it felt like they were getting dominated in.

San Francisco got the ball first in the second half and methodically drove the length of the field in five minutes and took the lead on an 11-yard touchdown to Boldin.

Those five-and-a-half minutes sandwiched around halftime were not good ones for the Rams.
