Andrew Shaw Holds on to Mike Ribeiro from Bench, so Ribeiro Punches Him in the Face

Mike Ribeiro cold-cocked Andrew Shaw in the face and Shaw wasn't even on the ice at the time.

In the final minutes of the third period against Chicago, Predators center Mike Ribeiro was pinned up alongside the boards in front of the Blackhawks bench by Jonathan Toews, but he was also being held onto by Andrew Shaw from the bench. As Toews skated away, Ribeiro was still stuck along the boards so he wound up and popped Shaw right in the mush.

Pretty boss move, right? Well, no, that's pretty lame to do even if you're (barely) provoked, but he can't even take credit for some tough guy hockey goonery. At the end of the game he happened to take a penalty that took him off the ice for the final minute or so, safe from any retaliatory Blackhawks. Maybe it was just a coincidence and no one on Chicago would have been stupid enough to take a run at him after securing a 4-2 win and a 2-1 series lead, but at least one dude in this game was stupid enough to punch a guy in the face who wasn't even on the ice, so who knows.
