Victor Cruz Likely Out For The Season After This Play

Victor Cruz tore his patellar tendon trying to catch a touchdown pass and will likely miss the remainder of the season.

Victor Cruz was injured on a non-contact play in the back of the end zone earlier tonight and it has now been confirmed that he tore his patellar tendon and will likely miss the rest of the season. The Eagles are dismantling the Giants tonight on Sunday Night Football but the eventual loss will go on the back burner after the injury to Cruz, who had to be carted off the field in a gut-wrenching scene at the Linc.

Cruz was open in the corner of the end zone for what looked to be a sure touchdown, but as he planted his right foot to jump for the ball, something went wrong. He made an effort to grab the ball but after it bounced off his fingertips, he immediately grabbed for his knee. He went down in a heap and Michele Tafoya said she had never heard as much screaming on an injury as she heard from Cruz. He was sobbing almost the entire time, even as the cart carried him away. At one point it looked like he was trying to either hug the trainer who was riding alongside him, or just hold onto something to deal with the pain.
