Dez Bryant is in the middle of contract negotiations with the Dallas Cowboys and has taken the extraordinarily awesome step of threatening to sit out the first game of the season if he does not get a long-term deal done by July 15th. Well, he's threatened to consider skipping the season opener, anyway. But still, good for him! Players' only leverage in these negotiations is their ability, so they should use it to their advantage.

But here's where things get kind of awkward: the Cowboys open the season against the Giants on Sunday Night Football and as one of the most recognizable stars in the NFL, NBC naturally wants to have him as part of their intro for that specific game and probably the standard, weekly intro, as well. So, Bryant met with SNF producers yesterday and participated in a photo shoot. There's Bryant, who has not practiced with the team for the first three weeks of practice, in full uniform filming in front of a green screen, posing for pictures, and checking out prints.

Who knows if NBC actually uses the footage with Bryant if it winds up he doesn't get the extension he wants and makes good on his threat of a threat, but better safe than sorry.
