The Western Sydney Wanderers football team will have to overcome an unwelcome distraction this weekend in their crucial away fixture against the fourth placed Brisbane Roar after Kearyn Baccus was charged with assault on Wednesday.The 25-year-old midfielder is alleged to have socked a 49-year-old man in the chest during a disagreement over a parking spot on January 5th. Police have spoken to two other Wanderers players in relation to the incident."About 1pm on Thursday, January 5, a verbal altercation occurred between a 25-year-old man and a 49-year-old man on Duncan Street, Arncliffe, resulting in the younger man punching the older man in the chest," a police spokeswoman said.
Baccus was granted conditional bail and will be free to travel and play for the Wanderers pending the outcome of the investigation."The Western Sydney Wanderers advise that they are aware of a police matter involving Kearyn Baccus. The Club has spoken to the player with regards to the incident and as the matter has been referred to the court system the Club will not be making any further comment," a statement from the club read. "The player will be available for selection for this weekend's match."
