Indians Fans Buying Ryan Merritt Wedding Gifts off his Registry

Ryan Merritt's wedding registry is open to the public, so after his performance in Game 5 fans started buying stuff.

Ryan Merritt got the start for the Cleveland on Wednesday afternoon in their decisive Game 5 victory n Toronto, and he was only even on the ALCS roster because Trevor Bauer sliced his finger open on a drone. Going into the game, Merritt had exactly 11 big-league innings pitched, and one start. He only pitched four and one third innings, but his boots were steady and his performance helped the Indians get back to the World Series. He gave up no runs and finished with three strikeouts and just two hits on what had to be the biggest day of his life. Or what will be the biggest day of his life until January 27th, that is, when he gets married.

Some enterprising internetter discovered Merritt's The Knot page and as it turns out, the page is public, as is his registry. If you thought he did a good job Wednesday, why not get him that Vintage Blacksmith Soap Caddy from Pottery Barn for $49.00? If you thought he should at least have gone five so he could qualify for the win, maybe just get him a wine glass for 12 bucks? He also appears to have invested in some stock in the Swiffer family of products, so maybe do him a solid and get him something along those lines.

There were at least two other Swiffer products that would not fit in the screengrab.

There's also this, which I'm almost positive is a double entrendre:

As Cleveland fans discovered that it was available to the public, they actually did start buying him and his fiancee Sarah Brushaber items from the registry.

So many diverse Swiffer products.

The couple is obviously getting a kick out of the whole thing, but if I was an invited guest, I'd get my act together before the only other options are the super expensive gifts or [shudders] your own creativity and thoughtfulness. Whatever you do, though, stay away from single service coffee makers. Not only are they bad for the environment, but when asked about all the fans buying gifts, Merritt told the Indians website, "Hopefully we don't end up with like five Keurigs or something."
