VICE Sports World News Roundup: July 27

Start your day with VICE Sports. Here's our morning roundup of the sports news from around the world.

Good morning, America. Welcome to the VICE Sports World News Roundup. Be sure to stop by daily for your morning headlines.

It's the 24th of July, 2015, and Sepp Blatter is still president of FIFA.

The Guardian caught up with Jason Brent, the guy who threw all that money at Blatter last week. Here's the best bit:

Q: "What happened after you got carted off stage? Did they beat you to a pulp?"

A: "No, the Swiss police were top lads. They could hardly keep up. It's all those Toblerones. Plus they only carry Swiss army knives. What would they have done? Prodded me with a corkscrew and burned me with a tiny magnifying glass?"

The CONCACAF Gold Cup is finally over. The tournament's knockout rounds were a wild and embarrassing affair for just about everyone involved, save Jamaica. The Reggae Boys took second, having lost to Mexico in Sunday's final, 3-1. The United States, meanwhile, could only manage fourth place. Panama beat the U.S. in the 3rd-place match on Saturday on penalties after a 1-1 draw.

The weekend saw continued fallout surrounding Mexico's shameful (dubious?) quarterfinal and semifinal wins, which both came after a late penalty or two. The Panamanian Federation president has alleged that the semifinal match was fixed. CONCACAF, meanwhile, says the ref was just shit. (Which is true whether or not it was fixed, I should point out.)

Liverpool tweeted a picture of three of its stars, whom the club labeled as "'world class talent." Mario Balotelli was also in the photo, but the club cropped him out of the tweeted pic.

Sebastian Vettel won the Hungarian Grand Prix. He dedicated the victory to Jules Bianchi, who recently died of the injuries suffered during last year's Japanese Grand Prix.

Chris Froome won the 102nd Tour de France with a time of 84 hours 46 minutes 14 seconds. The Colombian Nario Quintana Rojas was able to cut Froome's lead to a little over 1 minute. He'd enjoyed a 3 minute cushion for much of the race.

A Kanye West, Pitbull and Serena Ryder trifecta brought the Pan American Games to a close last night in what was no doubt a stirring ceremony. The U.S. finished the games leading the medal count with a total of 265. Canada and Brazil took second and third with 217 and 141 medals, respectively.

Fin.
