Marcelo put real Madrid up 2-0 over F.C. Schalke on a surprising blast from his right foot. Ronaldo dribbled himself into and out of a double team and got the ball to Marcelo, who settled it for just a second and then wound up and let it rip. The ball had almost not rotation on it and was drilled right into the top corner of the net.
It was even more of a dagger because it came shortly after Schalke missed a golden opportunity to tie the game. Felix Platte, who just signed a professional contract in November, drilled an absolute laser right into the center of the crossbar. Iker Casillas was relieved, to say the least, and gave some love to his friend.
